The crew used 15 studios totalling over 40,000 square meters in QingDao Movie Studios, and 95% of the shots involved special effects. In order to simulate the real moon surface, the crew laid 200 tons of sandstone to simulate the moon dust in a 6000 square meter soundstages and built a 100% real-life lunar base, which shows the degree of care.
